What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"This is one of the best freeride packs if you want something that truly moves with you. The flat fit and wide hip belt make it feel like part of your body when skiing, and the option to add a spine protector is a huge bonus for safety."The Ortovox Free Rider 28L Backpack was built for riders who demand freedom, safety, and versatility in steep terrain. Its slim, body-hugging fit and flexible CLASP FLEX BELT let the pack move naturally with your body—staying stable without restricting your line. For added protection, the pack is compatible with the CLASP Spine Protector, certified to motorcycle standards and easily integrated when you want extra security on big lines.Made with recycled polyamide and entirely PFC-free, the Free Rider 28L balances performance with sustainability. Practical design features include ski and ice axe carry options, rope and helmet attachment points, and both front and back access to the main compartment for quick gear retrieval. Inside, a dedicated safety pocket keeps avalanche essentials ready at hand.Whether you’re dropping into technical couloirs, skinning toward remote ridgelines, or moving through complex freeride terrain, the Free Rider 28 offers the space, stability, and protection you need—all in a low-profile design that feels like a second skin.
