What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying: "This is the shell I bring when weight matters but weather protection can’t be compromised. It packs down incredibly small, breathes well during high-output efforts, and seals out rain the moment conditions turn. From hikes to climbs, it’s one of those just-in-case layers that always earns its spot in my pack." When the forecast looks questionable—or we simply don’t trust it—we stash the Premonition UL Jacket from Mountain Hardwear and head out prepared. Designed for fast-paced days where ounces matter, this ultralight shell delivers serious protection without slowing us down, whether we’re skinning uphill, moving quickly on trail, or navigating exposed terrain. The Pertex Shield 3-layer construction provides waterproof, breathable performance that keeps us dry while allowing heat and moisture to escape during sustained effort. Durable recycled nylon stands up to repeated use in damp environments, while underarm vents boost airflow when intensity ramps up. A helmet-compatible hood adjusts easily for full coverage, and hook-and-loop cuffs help seal out wind and rain. Light, tough, and highly packable, this jacket is built for staying ahead of unpredictable mountain weather.
