What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I have been reaching for the Gecko Approach Shoe on everything from single-pitch cragging days to multi-pitch objectives, and the hybrid construction genuinely delivers both approach comfort and technical climbing performance in a single shoe. The SuperGum rubber sticks confidently on moderate rock, and the lace-to-toe closure lets me dial in exactly the right tension for the terrain, whether I am moving fast on a long approach or stepping onto technical ground."The approach ends where the climbing begins, and the best shoes handle both ends of that transition without asking you to compromise on either. The Scarpa Gecko Approach Shoe has been a staff and athlete favorite for exactly that reason, delivering technical climbing performance and genuine approach comfort in a single package that earns its place on the rack for everything from casual cragging days to multi-pitch objectives above treeline.Scarpa built the Gecko around a hybrid lasted construction that uses board lasting in the rear for torsional stability and support under a pack, and slip lasting in the forefoot for the flexibility and ground sensitivity that technical footwork demands on the rock. Water-resistant suede leather molds to the foot over time for a glove-like fit while standing up to the abrasion of rocky terrain, and an overlasted toe rand wraps over the midsole to protect the most vulnerable area of the shoe through sustained use. The lace-to-toe closure system adapts to a wide range of foot shapes and lets you cinch down for technical terrain or back off for the approach, and large climbing zones on the PRESA outsole deliver the grip, sensitivity, and precision that the transition from trail to rock demands.
