What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"Salomon really nailed the MTN 96 Carbon for free-touring. It’s light enough for big days in the backcountry, but doesn’t feel flimsy on the downhill. The 96mm waist is quick and responsive, and with the rocker profile it floats way better than you’d expect. It’s a touring ski I trust to perform when conditions get tricky."Who It’s ForBackcountry Skiers Who Want One Ski to Do It All:The MTN 96 Carbon is for touring enthusiasts who want a ski that climbs efficiently without compromising downhill power. Best for intermediate to advanced backcountry skiers who spend long days on the skin track and need confidence when charging variable snow on the way down. What It’s ForVersatile Touring and Freeride Missions:This ski thrives on big tours, technical lines, and variable snowpacks. The 96mm waist provides enough float for powder while staying nimble on firm or tight terrain, and the rocker/camber profile ensures both maneuverability and grip. With a lightweight build, it’s equally at home chasing powder or covering big mileage. Why We Like ItLight, Nimble, and Dependable in All Conditions:We like the MTN 96 Carbon because it’s not just a lightweight touring ski—it actually skis well. The Karuba wood core keeps things featherlight, the fiberglass laminate adds control, and the carbon-reinforced skin clip tail makes transitions easy. It’s a trustworthy tool for exploring big terrain without sacrificing downhill fun.
