What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying"I took the MTN 86 Carbon on a long tour last spring and was impressed by how little I noticed the weight on the climb — and how much I noticed the stability on the way down. The carbon construction keeps it snappy and responsive without feeling stiff. On firmer snow it carves cleanly, and it handles variable conditions without a fuss. It's a legit touring ski that doesn't make you compromise on the descent."Who It's ForIntermediate to Advanced Skiers Chasing Backcountry Lines:This ski is built for skiers who are comfortable on challenging terrain and ready to venture beyond the resort. Whether you're skinning up for fresh powder or navigating technical descents on a big mountain objective, the MTN 86 Carbon rewards skiers who push their range. It suits those who prioritize a light setup on the up without sacrificing performance on the way down. What It's ForFreeride and Alpine Touring in Variable Mountain Conditions:At home on long tours, open powder fields, and mixed mountain terrain, the MTN 86 Carbon is optimized for skiers who earn their turns. Its rocker-camber-rocker profile floats in fresh snow and grips on hard pack, making it a capable quiver-of-one for skiers who want one ski to handle a full day in the mountains. Why We Like ItLight Construction, No-Compromise Performance:The MTN 86 Carbon pairs a full karuba wood core — one of the lightest woods used in ski construction — with carbon basalt fiber laminate for a ski that feels lively and responsive without unnecessary weight. Titanal binding reinforcement underfoot adds edge hold and power transfer on hard snow, while cork damping in the tip and tail smooths out vibration. The result is a well-balanced touring ski that doesn't feel like it's punishing you on the descent after a long climb.
