What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I have been wearing the Mountain Hardwear Butter Up Tight as a base layer on ski touring days and pulling double duty in them at the climbing gym afterward, and they handle both without a complaint. The fabric lives up to the name in the best way, soft enough to forget you are wearing them but structured enough to stay in place through a full day of movement. The anti-odor treatment means I can get multiple hard days out of a single pair, which matters a lot on longer backcountry trips."There are layers you wear because you have to and layers you reach for because they genuinely feel good, and the Mountain Hardwear Butter Up Tight sits firmly in the second category. The buttery soft 85% polyester and 15% elastane fabric moves with the body rather than against it, stretching freely through every squat, step, and ski turn without pulling or bunching anywhere it should not.Mountain Hardwear built the Butter Up Tight to earn its place across a full range of activity, from skin tracks and powder days to climbing gym sessions and casual wear that happens to demand a lot of the fabric. UPF 50 protection handles sun exposure on bright alpine days, moisture-wicking construction pulls sweat away during hard efforts, and anti-odor treatment keeps things fresh through back-to-back wear when the adventure runs longer than the laundry schedule. The form-fitting cut sits close to the skin for clean layering under a shell without bunching or adding bulk, and it looks good enough to wear as a standalone piece when the conditions call for it.
