What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I use this piece for big uphill days because it dumps heat fast without losing warmth. The mapped panels genuinely make a difference—breathable where I need it, insulating where it counts—and the high collar protects my face when conditions shift."When winter routes demand steady movement, we reach for the Alma 1/2-Zip Long-Sleeve Baselayer Shirt to keep our temperature just right. Kari Traa blends mapped fabrics and airy rib panels to help us stay dry when the climb steepens and warm when wind pushes across the ridge. Sliding it on feels light and soft, with enough insulation in the chest and arms to hold heat without slowing our pace.As we move, the Tencel-rich zones under the arms, along the ribs, and at the neck pull moisture away before it chills, while the half zipper lets us vent quickly when our heartbeat rises. The high collar shields skin from cold gusts, and the thumb loops keep sleeves anchored under gloves. Streamlined seams and a slim fit keep it comfortable beneath midlayers, making this a baselayer we rely on from fast skis to winter training loops.
