What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"The Columbia Sage Peak 9in Chino Short has become my default warm weather short because it looks put together enough for a casual Friday but moves well enough that I don't feel overdressed on a quick trail run between meetings. The stretch fabric makes a real difference over a long day, and the Omni-Shield repellency has handled more than a few patio spills without leaving a mark."The best shorts are the ones you stop thinking about after the first five minutes of wearing them. The Columbia Sage Peak 9in Chino Short earns that kind of comfort quickly, with a clean chino look that works just as well at a casual outdoor lunch as it does on a mellow trail or a Saturday around town. Columbia kept the silhouette classic and let the fabric do the talking. The polyester and elastane blend delivers a natural stretch that follows your movement without the stiffness of a traditional chino, while Omni-Shield repellency turns away light moisture and resists stains so an unexpected splash or an overzealous condiment doesn't become a wardrobe problem. A gusset detail adds mobility where it counts, and the combination of front hand pockets and back pockets means there's always a place for the essentials without the shorts feeling overstuffed or bulky. The 9-inch inseam hits at a versatile length that reads relaxed without tipping into beach territory.
