What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I grabbed the Columbia Hikebound II Jacket for my niece before a rainy week of hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and it handled every soggy day without complaint. The Omni-Tech critically seam-sealed construction kept her genuinely dry through hours of steady rain, and the mesh lining meant she stayed comfortable even when the pace picked up on the climb."A little rain has never stopped a determined young hiker, and with the right gear it never has to. The Columbia Hikebound II Jacket is built to keep kids out on the trail through whatever the weather throws at them, from a steady morning drizzle to a full afternoon downpour. Columbia's Omni-Tech waterproof breathable fabric with critical seam sealing blocks moisture from working its way in through the jacket's most vulnerable points, so the inside stays dry even when the outside is thoroughly soaked. The mesh lining adds a layer of breathable comfort that keeps things from feeling clammy when the effort level climbs on steeper sections of trail. The attached adjustable hood with partial elastic fits securely over the head without requiring a lot of fussing, and partial elastic cuffs seal out water at the wrists when the rain is really coming down. Zippered hand pockets keep small essentials protected and dry, and reflective detailing adds a measure of visibility when the light gets low on a stormy afternoon.
