It's the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens, a high-quality, professional-grade lens that stands as the fastest autofocus lens in its class. This lens is a must-have tool for professional photographers and advanced amateurs alike. Designed to complement Canon's full-frame cameras, such as the EOS-1Ds Mark II and EOS 5D digital SLRs, this lens also delivers stunning results on APS-C/H sized sensor models. The EF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens is a testament to Canon's long-standing tradition of optical excellence. Every detail of this lens, from its wide 72mm filter diameter to its dust and moisture-sealed construction, screams professional quality. The lens features a high refraction glass molded aspherical element that minimizes spherical aberration, ensuring fine detail and maximum image quality from corner to corner, even when used wide open. Ideal for full-frame digital camera users, the 50mm focal length is perfect for capturing waist-up portraits at weddings while maintaining an appropriate subject distance. The large maximum aperture of f/1.2 allows for a shallow depth of field, creating a soft background that makes subjects stand out in a portrait. This lens also enables photographers to leverage higher shutter speeds for shooting in lower light conditions, helping to prevent blurring caused by subject movement or camera shake. The lens boasts a fast autofocus speed and response time, thanks to Canon's ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), which quietly drives the lens. A full-time manual focus feature allows photographers to fine-tune the sharpness of their images, even when the lens is set for autofocus. The EF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens is designed to deliver the best possible optical quality while being durable enough to meet the needs of demanding photographers. The lens comprises eight elements in six groups to provide high resolution, while an advanced coating suppresses flare and ghosting. A glass molded (GMO) aspherical element ensures maximum image quality by reducing spherical aberration and linear distortion. Dust and moisture-resistant components in the lens mount, switches, and focus ring help to protect the lens in a wide variety of shooting conditions. This lens is not just a tool, but a gateway to capturing stunning, professional-grade photographs.
