The brand added perfume to its offerings in 1927, with the Jean Nate line of fragrances and body splashes introduced in 1935. The company changed hands several times, first to pharmaceutical company Squibb in 1972, then to Yves Saint Laurent in 1986, and finally to American cosmetics and fragrances company Revlon in 1987. Revlon started in 1932 as a developer of nail enamel. Revlon retired the Charles of the Ritz brand in 2002 and renamed its fragrances under its own name.
