This collection features the artistry of wife-and-husband duo Jocy and Trae Little Sky, founders of the clothing brand TÓPA and proud members of the Oceti Sakowin (People of Seven Council Fires); Jocy is of Dakota and Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nations (MHA/Dakota), and Trae is Oglala Lakota and Stoney Nakoda. Made with roughout sheepskin suede patinaed for a worn-in look, this jacket features intricate hand-beadwork that depicts the Sage Blossom, a flower that is revered by members of the Oceti Sakowin for its ability to cleanse, sooth, and call upon ancestors. Its cascading fringe trim is a traditional detail that is both decorative and functional, allowing rainwater to shed quickly to help keep the wearer dry.
