The
Nike Kids ACG All Conditions Rain Jacket in Black is a stretch nylon shell rain jacket for older children and teens, made from 95% nylon and 5% elastane in Vietnam. It sits within Nike’s ACG (All Conditions Gear) line — a range built around the idea that outdoor and urban environments overlap, and that performance outerwear should work across both. The ACG Rain Jacket is the most weather-focused piece in the kids’ ACG range: designed specifically to block wind and rain rather than simply resist light moisture.
The 5% elastane content is what separates this from a standard nylon shell. Most children’s rain jackets use a rigid woven nylon that blocks weather effectively but restricts movement — the elastane in this shell allows the fabric to stretch with the body, which makes a practical difference during active use. The all-black colourway is the most versatile option in the ACG range: it layers cleanly over school kit, sportswear, and casual weekend outfits without clashing, and it doesn’t show the kind of surface marks that lighter colourways accumulate quickly in wet weather. This is a children’s designer rain jacket that works from the school run through to weekend hiking and active outdoor use.
Buying Advice
Layering: The ACG Rain Jacket is designed as an outer shell in a layering system. It works over a base layer and midlayer — a fleece or hoodie underneath — rather than as a standalone warm jacket. In mild wet weather it can be worn over a single layer; in cold conditions, the fit is cut to accommodate a midlayer beneath without feeling restrictive.
Care: Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C. Do not use fabric softener — it degrades the DWR (durable water repellent) finish on the shell. Do not tumble dry or iron directly on the fabric. After several washes, re-proof with a specialist DWR spray to restore weather resistance.
Fit: The ACG range is cut for an active, slightly relaxed fit. Standard sizing works for wearing over a single base layer; if your child regularly layers a fleece underneath, check Nike’s ACG size guide as the fit can differ from Nike’s standard sportswear range.
