Carrying a cooler is usually the worst part of using one. This 22 Qt chest solves that with a foam-padded aluminum handle that spreads the load across your hand instead of cutting into it, which becomes obvious somewhere between the parking lot and the water. Empty, the chest weighs 14 lbs, and the handle makes that feel lighter than the number suggests. The body is rotomolded LLDPE over polyurethane insulation, with a 14.5 by 8.5 by 11 in interior sized for one or two people on a full day out. It rides on a boat seat or in a footwell without taking over the space, yet holds a lunch, drinks, and a solid bed of ice underneath. Tight latches compress a full gasket around the lid, and that seal is what stretches ice retention to 5 to 7 days while keeping food fresh just as long. Packed hot, the same walls hold warmth for 2 to 3 days. The lid carries 220 lbs, so it works as a low stool at a campsite or a side table next to a chair. A drainage system with a plug empties meltwater without unpacking. Built-in cup holders, a fish measuring ruler, and a bottle opener are molded into the body, and anti-slip rubber pads stop the chest from wandering across a wet deck. It suits camping, picnics, barbecues, road trips, and days spent fishing.
