What Our Gearhead Experts Are Saying: “I love these for crag days when I’m constantly switching between hiking, belaying, and hanging out. The collapsible heel makes them ridiculously easy to slip on and off, and the sticky outsole grips well on rocky approaches. They’re comfortable enough to wear all day, which makes them a go-to for relaxed but technical days outside.” We reach for the Alnasca Hybrid Low Approach Shoe when our days blur the line between hiking, climbing, and downtime at the crag. Built by Mammut to handle transitions with ease, this hybrid design combines the relaxed feel of a closed sandal with the stability and grip of an approach shoe, keeping us comfortable from the trailhead to the belay and back to camp. A collapsible heel lets us slide in and out without untying laces, perfect for quick transitions between climbs. The EVA midsole and Ortholite insole provide lasting cushioning for long days on our feet, while the Mammut Swiss Design outsole delivers reliable traction on rocky approaches, even in cooler temperatures. With added toe protection and a raised rubber rand for durability, this versatile shoe is just as happy scrambling toward the wall as it is relaxing after a full day in the mountains.
