The
Lacoste Girls Tennis Dress with Shorts in White is a polo-collar tennis dress for girls, made from 97% polyester and 3% elastane in Cambodia, with built-in shorts and a plain white colourway. It covers ages 3 to 16 years and sits in the Activewear collection at Childsplay Clothing alongside the navy version of the same dress. The construction is identical across both colourways — a stretch performance knit designed for movement, with built-in shorts for coverage during active play — but white is the more traditional tennis colourway and carries a different set of styling and care considerations.
White is the colour most closely associated with tennis as a sport — Wimbledon’s all-white dress code has made it the default reference point for tennis dress aesthetics, and Lacoste’s heritage as a tennis brand makes the white version of this dress the most brand-authentic choice in the range. On a practical level, white is the most versatile base colour for a sports dress: it works with any colour of sports kit, shoes, or accessories without clashing, and it reads as clean and considered in a way that brighter or more saturated sports colours don’t. The stretch polyester-elastane fabric and built-in shorts make it genuinely functional for tennis, gymnastics, dance, and active outdoor wear. This is a sustainability-tagged product within the Lacoste Kids range, made in Cambodia.
Buying Advice
Keeping white white: White polyester can yellow over time if washed at too high a temperature or left damp. Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle, wash separately from coloured garments, and dry promptly rather than leaving damp in the machine. Avoid fabric softener, which can leave a residue on performance fabrics. A specialist sports detergent helps maintain brightness through repeated washing.
Styling: White is the most versatile base for a sports dress — it pairs with any colour of trainers, socks, or hair accessories without requiring coordination. For a classic tennis aesthetic, white with navy or green accessories references Lacoste’s heritage palette directly.
Active use: The stretch polyester-elastane construction and built-in shorts make this dress genuinely suited to sport and active play. The white colourway is the traditional choice for tennis specifically — if the dress is primarily for tennis lessons or club play, white is the more contextually appropriate option.
