The
Lacoste Girls Tennis Dress with Shorts in Navy is a polo-collar tennis dress for girls, made from 97% polyester and 3% elastane in Cambodia, with built-in shorts and a plain navy colourway. It covers ages 3 to 16 years and sits in the Activewear collection at Childsplay Clothing — a different product category from Lacoste’s cotton piqué polo dresses, with a construction specifically designed for movement and active wear.
The polyester-elastane fabric is the key distinction from the piqué polo dresses in the Lacoste Kids range. Where piqué is a structured woven cotton that holds its shape and reads as smart-casual, this fabric is a stretch performance knit — lighter, more flexible, and designed to move with the body during physical activity. The 3% elastane content allows the dress to stretch and recover without losing its shape, which makes it genuinely suitable for tennis, gymnastics, dance, and other active pursuits rather than simply looking the part. The built-in shorts provide coverage and freedom of movement without requiring a separate layer underneath. This is a sustainability-tagged product within the Lacoste Kids range, made in Cambodia.
Buying Advice
Active use: The stretch polyester construction and built-in shorts make this dress genuinely functional for sport and active play — not just casual wear. It’s well suited to tennis lessons, gymnastics, dance classes, and active outdoor days where a cotton dress would restrict movement or become uncomfortable.
Navy for active wear: Navy is a practical choice for a sports dress — it doesn’t show sweat marks as readily as white or pale colours, and it maintains its appearance through repeated washing better than brighter or more saturated tones. It also coordinates easily with white, grey, and red sports kit.
Care: Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Wash dark colours separately. Do not tumble dry on high heat — high heat can affect the elastane content and reduce the fabric’s stretch recovery over time. Do not bleach. Air dry or tumble dry on a low setting.
