What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"The Hiker Pro is my go-to recommendation for anyone doing multi-day trips with reliable water sources along the route. The pump action is fast and easy, and knowing it's pulling out protozoa and bacteria down to 0.2 microns gives me real confidence drinking from backcountry streams."The creek at the bottom of the canyon is cold and clear, and your bottles have been running low since the last switchback. With the Katadyn Hiker Pro Microfilter, that stream goes from a hopeful sight to a confirmed resupply in minutes. No need to carry days worth of water when the backcountry is full of sources waiting to be filtered. The pump-action design connects directly to hydration packs and water bottles, pushing a liter of clean water through per minute so the stop is short and the miles keep moving. A 0.2-micron glass fiber filter physically removes protozoa and bacteria, while an activated carbon core absorbs chemicals and knocks out any off-putting taste or odor. At just 11 ounces and good for up to 300 gallons per cartridge, the Hiker Pro earns its place in the pack on every long route where water is available but reliability is everything.
