What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying"I took the Obsidian 92 out on a big powder day and it floated better than I expected for a 92mm waist. But what stood out was how well it transitioned back to firmer snow later in the day. It held an edge confidently and didn't feel sloppy when the conditions changed. The poplar beech core gives it a really satisfying, planted feel underfoot. A genuinely capable ski from top to bottom."Who It's ForIntermediate to Advanced Women Skiers with a Freeride Mindset:The Obsidian 92 is built for women who are drawn to powder, off-piste terrain, and backcountry exploration but want a ski that still performs reliably on groomed runs and mixed conditions. It suits confident intermediate to advanced skiers who are ready to push into more challenging terrain and want a ski with the float and stability to back them up.What It's ForFreeride and All-Mountain Skiing Across On-Piste and Off-Piste Terrain:The Obsidian 92 is designed to excel in powder and soft off-piste snow while remaining capable on groomed and variable terrain. Its 92mm waist delivers pleasant float in fresh snow without feeling oversized on hardpack, making it a strong choice for resort days that mix tracked-out groomers with untracked lines and backcountry excursions. Why We Like ItRobust Construction with Float, Power, and All-Condition Reliability:The poplar and beech wood core gives the Obsidian 92 a denser, more powerful feel underfoot compared to lighter touring-oriented builds, translating to confident edge grip and strong turn initiation in demanding conditions. Hollowtech 2.0 keeps overall weight manageable without sacrificing that planted, energetic feel. The semi-cap sandwich sidewall construction transfers power directly to the edges, and the graphite sinter UHM base holds speed well across varying snow surfaces. Hook-free geometry at both the shovel and tail, combined with a progressive and dual rise profile, makes the ski forgiving and floaty in powder while staying controlled in tighter terrain.
