HISTORY ASPECTS - The Tupolev Tu-144D registered CCCP-77112 is one of the most famous examples of Soviet aerospace engineering and remains an enduring symbol of the supersonic age. Developed by the Tupolev Design Bureau, the Tu-144 was the world's first supersonic passenger airliner to exceed the speed of sound in flight, preceding its Western counterpart in achieving supersonic flight. The improved Tu-144D variant featured more powerful engines, greater fuel capacity, and increased range, making it the most advanced version of the aircraft. Although its commercial career was relatively brief, the Tu-144 demonstrated the Soviet Union's ambition to pioneer high-speed passenger travel. Aircraft CCCP-77112 was built as a Tu-144D and later became one of the best-preserved surviving examples of the type. Following the retirement of the Tu-144 fleet, the aircraft was selected for preservation rather than scrapping, recognizing its historical significance in aviation history. It was eventually transported to Germany, where it became one of the centerpiece exhibits at the Technik Museum Sinsheim. Displayed alongside the Concorde, visitors have the rare opportunity to compare the world's only two supersonic passenger airliners side by side. Mounted on an elevated platform, CCCP-77112 allows aviation enthusiasts to appreciate its sleek delta-wing design and distinctive retractable canards up close. The Tu-144 program represented a remarkable technological achievement despite the operational challenges it faced. While the aircraft saw only limited passenger service with Aeroflot and was later used for cargo flights and research missions, it contributed valuable knowledge to the development of high-speed aerodynamics and supersonic transport. Today, CCCP-77112 stands as a tribute to one of the most ambitious civil aviation projects ever undertaken and serves as an important educational exhibit, preserving the legacy of an era when supersonic travel was viewed as the future of commercial aviation. This 1 - 400 scale model is a beautifully detailed replica of Aeroflot Tupolev Tu-144D CCCP-77112 as preserved at the Technik Museum Sinsheim. Featuring authentic Aeroflot markings and the unmistakable lines of the legendary Soviet supersonic airliner, it captures one of aviation's most iconic aircraft in remarkable miniature. Perfect for collectors of historic airliners, Cold War aviation, and supersonic transports, this replica is an outstanding display piece celebrating one of the most extraordinary achievements in commercial aviation history.
