What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"On cold storm days, this is the layer I reach for first. The LIFA fibers keep sweat off my skin when I’m pushing hard uphill, and the merino exterior keeps me warm when I’m riding the chair back down. The half-zip dumps heat quickly, and the seams stay comfortable even under a pack. It’s that rare baselayer that works for both high-output tours and resort laps."We count on the Helly Hansen Lifa Merino Midweight 1/2 Zip Top to keep us comfortable through long, variable winter days in the mountains. By pairing high-performing LIFA fibers against the skin with a merino outer, this dual-layer design gives us the best of both worlds: fast moisture management during climbs and breathable warmth during rest transitions. When our pace ramps up, the half-zip lets us fine-tune airflow, while flatlock seams and an athletic fit make layering friction-free. Merino’s natural odor resistance keeps things fresh on back-to-back days, whether we’re chasing snow in the backcountry or moving fast on a winter hike.
