HISTORY ASPECTS - The American Airlines MD-90, registered N904RA, was part of the airline's fleet during the 1990s and early 2000s, serving as a key asset for its domestic and regional operations. Manufactured by McDonnell Douglas, the MD-90 was a narrow-body, twin-engine jet airliner that offered a combination of efficiency and passenger comfort. The aircraft featured modernized avionics and engines, making it a more fuel-efficient model compared to its predecessors. American Airlines utilized the MD-90 primarily on short to medium-haul routes, where its performance and passenger capacity were highly valued. This particular MD-90, N904RA, was one of the many aircraft used by American Airlines to expand its reach across the United States during a time when the airline was growing rapidly in the 1990s. The aircraft provided service on routes such as those connecting major cities like Dallas, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. With a seating capacity of around 140 passengers, the MD-90 helped American Airlines meet the increasing demand for air travel, especially in the booming air travel market of the late 20th century. Its distinctive livery and modern design made it a recognizable part of the American Airlines fleet. However, like many aircraft of its era, the MD-90 was eventually phased out as newer and more fuel-efficient models, such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737, became the standard for domestic fleets. American Airlines retired the MD-90s as part of its modernization effort, and the aircraft was eventually scrapped or sold. N904RA, however, remains a part of American Airlines' history as an essential part of its fleet during a transformative period in the airline's development. This 1 - 200 scale model features an accurate replica of the iconic aircraft in its classic American Airlines livery, this replica is a tribute to the airline’s commitment to service and innovation. Whether you're a fan of American Airlines' history or a lover of classic aircraft, this model is an excellent addition to any collection.
