This versatile 100 mm macro lens offers up to 1.4x magnification, or up to 2.8x with an optional teleconverter. G Master resolution and bokeh contribute to impressive macro captures, while advanced stabilization and macro-optimized operability deliver unprecedented macro potential for stills and movies. Flowers, insects, and other subjects come alive with normally hidden detail.Up to 1.4x magnification, or 2.8x with optional teleconverterThis G Master macro lens offers up to 1.4x magnification, or up to 2.8x magnification with an optional teleconverter. G Master resolution and bokeh contribute to impressive macro captures. Advanced stabilization and macro-optimized operability deliver unprecedented control for stills and movies where focus is critical.Extreme macro with more than a 1:1 ratioUp to 1.4x magnification and a 0.26 m (0.86 ft) minimum focus distance make this lens ideal for macro photography. Close-up capability with more than a 1:1 magnification ratio makes it possible to capture details and textures that are normally invisible to the naked eye in creative new ways.2.8x magnification with a teleconverterTeleconverter support enables up to 2.8x magnification that can reveal new dimensions of detail and texture while providing ample working distance that not only makes it possible to shoot impressive macro captures of subjects that can't be approached closely, but also allows extra space for effective lighting.Breathtaking G Master resolutionTwo XA (extreme aspherical) elements and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements suppress chromatic and other aberration for superior resolution right out to the image edges. Floating focus minimizes aberration variations for superb resolution at close focus. Nano AR Coating II controls flare and ghosting for excellent contrast and clarity.Exquisite G Master bokehAn F2.8 aperture, two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements, and an 11-blade aperture unit all help to create gorgeous G Master bokeh that has minimal coloration. Refined bokeh contributes to beautiful, impressively dimensional imagery.Effective stabilization for macro shootingAdvanced optical image stabilization is optimized for macro shooting where sharpness is critical, and a new control system achieves improved angle, shift, and depth control for precise handheld stabilization. Compatible a bodies additionally enable lens-body communication that enhances stabilization for both stills and movies (Active Mode).Fast, precise, quiet AF and trackingFour XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors drive the floating focus group for up to 1.9x faster AF over a wide range in AF-S mode. Tracking is fast too, making it easier to shooting active macro subjects. This system easily keeps up with the 120 fps maximum speed of the a9 III. Focus drive is quiet too, making it ideal for movie shooting.Critical focus for eye-opening macroPrecise focus is essential when shooting with a narrow depth of field, and this remarkable lens ensures that it is easy to achieve. After following a moving subject in AF-C mode, the MF mode can be quickly selected via the AF/MF switch and used with focus magnification to refine and finalize focus.Quick, easy focus adjustmentIf focus is on the wrong subject, it can be returned to the intended subject simply by rotating the focus ring in the lens's DMF mode.
