What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"This is my go-to for mid-length rides where a full backpack is overkill but I still need tools, layers, and hydration. The 2-liter reservoir is low-profile and keeps weight centered, while the magnetic bite valve is surprisingly convenient. I like how it hugs my lower back without bouncing, and the hipbelt phone pocket is a nice touch. It’s breathable enough for hot rides, and the compression straps help stabilize the load even when the bladder's full."We reach for the Dakine Hot Laps 5L Lumbar Pack when we want to ride fast, light, and fully equipped. It carries what we need for big trail loops—without the sweaty back panel of a full backpack. Built around a 2-liter Dakine x Hydrapak 3D lumbar reservoir, the Hot Laps 5L keeps weight low and centered for stability on tight switchbacks or rocky descents. A magnetic buckle makes it easy to secure the hose one-handed, and side compression keeps the whole setup tight as we drink our way through the ride. This bag is smartly redesigned with a fleece-lined hip pocket for easy phone or sunglasses storage, plus internal compartments for tools, snacks, and layers. Lower external straps let us carry pads on the climbs, and a breathable AirFlow back panel keeps us cool on hot days. Whether we're rolling out for a long ride or stashing layers for a change in weather, this waist pack hits the sweet spot of volume, comfort, and ride-ready design.
