What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I wore the Columbia Tech Trail Utility Short-Sleeve Crew on a series of steep summer day hikes and it handled the sweat load better than most shirts I've tested at this price point. The Omni-Wick fabric dried fast enough between climbs that I never felt that cold, damp-shirt sensation on the descents, and the active fit moved naturally without the pulling or twisting you get from a looser cut on technical terrain."When the trail pitches up and the temperature follows, your shirt either keeps up or it doesn't. The Columbia Tech Trail Utility Short-Sleeve Crew is firmly in the keeps-up category, built from a stretchy polyester and elastane blend that moves with the body and manages moisture without making a fuss about it. Columbia designed this one for the hiker who wants reliable trail performance without carrying extra weight or complexity on the climb.Omni-Shade UPF 50 construction protects skin from UVA and UVB rays through long exposed sections where the elevation opens up the views and the sun exposure along with it. Omni-Wick fabric pulls sweat away from the skin continuously and pushes it to the surface to evaporate, so the shirt stays light and dry even when the effort doesn't let up. The active fit skims the body closely enough to move efficiently on technical terrain without restricting a single stride, and the droptail hem adds extra coverage at the back where a standard length would fall short on steeper ground.
