For unassisted ultras that take us into rugged alpine conditions, we stride out with the Black Diamond Distance 22L Backpack. The daypack capacity, Z-pole sleeves, and ice axe storage ensure we can carry all the fuel, layers, and tools we need to tackle harsh, varying conditions, while the vest-style suspension, dual sternum straps, and side compression minimize bounce and sway when picking up the pace or scrambling up near-vert sections. Plus, the women's-specific fit and stitch-free shoulder-strap edges promise a snug, low-bulk, and low-friction fit.
