What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I have been using the Black Diamond Distance 15L Backpack on days that blend fast trail running approaches with technical scrambling and it handles the transition between those two modes better than anything else at this weight. The vest harness keeps the pack locked against the body with zero bounce on the run, and the women's specific fit in the shoulders made an immediate difference in how secure and comfortable it felt through a full day of varied movement. The Z-Pole storage deploys and stows quickly enough that switching between hands-free scrambling and trekking poles never slows the pace."Some alpine days start as a run and end as a climb, and the Black Diamond Distance 15L Backpack was designed for exactly that kind of objective. At 12.5 ounces it carries like a vest on the approach and handles like a technical pack once the terrain turns vertical, bridging the gap between trail running and alpine scrambling without asking you to compromise on either end.Black Diamond constructed the Distance 15 with BD SETT, a stitch-less edge taping technology that improves fit, comfort, and durability by eliminating the raw edges and pressure points that traditional construction creates during sustained movement. The vest-inspired harness wraps the body closely and keeps the pack stable through running strides without the bounce that derails focus on technical ground, and a women's specific fit addresses shorter torso lengths with shoulder strap shaping focused on curvature and width at the neck for all-day comfort that holds up from the trailhead to the summit. Stretch harness pockets and a zippered harness pocket keep nutrition and small essentials accessible without breaking stride, dual ice axe carry options and Z-Pole trekking pole storage handle the hardware transitions that mixed alpine days demand, and side compression straps dial in stability as the pack empties through the day. Built from a combination of 100D nylon, 200D polyester, and Dynex UHMWPE ripstop, the Distance 15 brings genuine durability to an ultralight platform that refuses to slow you down.
