What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I have been stuffing the Deploy Down Hooded Jacket into the lid of my pack on every alpine objective this season, and it has bailed me out more times than I can count. At 138 grams, it genuinely disappears in your kit, and the 1000-fill down punches so far above its weight that it is hard to believe something this light can keep you this warm at a belay."The best layers are the ones you stop thinking about because they always show up when you need them. The Black Diamond Deploy Down Hooded Jacket earns that status by weighing virtually nothing and delivering warmth that defies its packed size. At 138 grams, it holds the title of the world's lightest down hoody, and the internal stow pocket means it disappears into itself and into your pack in seconds. The 1000-fill goose down insulation is what makes that weight-to-warmth ratio possible, trapping heat efficiently without requiring the bulk that lower fill powers need to keep up. The half-zip style and adjustable hood add warmth and coverage at the neck without adding grams, while the 4D Nylon Ultralight ripstop shell keeps the whole package incredibly packable and durable enough for real mountain use. Black Diamond down meets strict animal welfare standards and is fully traceable, and the PFAS-free DWR finish handles light moisture without compromise. For fast and light objectives where every gram has to earn its place, the Deploy Down Hooded Jacket is the answer.
