What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:"I've been grabbing the Coefficient Storm Hooded Jacket for everything from early morning trail approaches to windy belay stances, and it handles both without hesitation. It stuffs into its own pocket so I barely notice it in my pack, and that grid back construction keeps things from getting clammy when I'm moving hard."The weather in the alpine doesn't announce itself, and the Coefficient Storm Hooded Jacket from Black Diamond is built for exactly that reality. It lives at that useful crossroads between a midlayer and a shell, stretchy enough to keep up on a fast approach and wind-resistant enough to take the edge off when conditions shift above treeline. The grid back construction adds a layer of warmth and breathability right where you need it, while the PFC-free DWR finish handles light moisture without weighing the jacket down. When the sun finally breaks through, the whole thing stuffs into its front hand pocket with a carabiner clip loop ready to go, so it rides on your harness or pack strap without a second thought. Two hand pockets and a zip chest pocket keep the essentials close on the move.
