What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying: "I’ve climbed on every Camalot generation, and this C4 update is the best yet. The weight savings is real, but the cams still feel just as solid in the hand and in the rock. The bigger sizes flex more uniformly now, and the trigger keepers on the 4–6 make racking so much cleaner. It’s the piece I trust when the pump sets in." We trust the Camalot C4 when the route steepens, the gear gets thin, and we need dependable pro that feels dialed from the first placement. Black Diamond trims weight without compromising strength, refining the lobes and stem design while keeping the same camming angle and placement ranges that climbers have relied on for decades. The result is a lighter, more modern cam that feels as secure and intuitive as ever.Across the size range, the redesigned stems give the larger units a more consistent flex, creating a more predictable feel from the tiny 0.3 all the way to the massive 6. The bi-color slings make fast size ID easier mid-pitch, and the trigger keepers on the biggest sizes reduce bulk on the harness while keeping deployment quick and smooth. Whether we’re racking up for long desert towers, alpine classics, or local crag days, the C4 remains a cornerstone of a trustworthy trad rack.
