Skin Science: Collagen is a structural protein that is essential for the skin, providing firmness and regeneration. There are 28 types of collagen. Types I and III are the most present in the skin and contribute to dermal density. Types IV and VII are located in the dermal-epidermal junction and help anchor the dermis to the epidermis, ensuring the skin's mechanical resistance and regulating cellular exchanges between these two layers.
